Kristin's mom posted on her fb page...
Called to check on the baby girl today. They said she had therapy and that they brought in an IPAD that she pointed that she was happy but pointed that she was hurting. Said that they read the message I wrote and showed her the calendar that I got and had circled the date when I be down again. She told them that made her happy.

Kristin was doing better today after the scare last night. She's only cried twice today. We were able to go outside for a little bit until she got slept from the warm sunshine. She has a special caregiver that seems to have bonded really well with her. She encourages Kristin to move and stretch even when she's just laying there. They still haven't started her therapy back yet. They're in they middle of contract negotiations between work comp and the therapists. She has tried to speak a few words at Rosie's encouragement. April is still dreading leaving tomorrow. But hopefully, she can return soon.

Update on Kristin's day. She has had a really good day today. Less soreness, so that she turned head some to the left and even held her neck and head up herself about 15 minutes. Shegot to face chat with Clark, her step father before we went outside to the gazebo and looked out at the pond. Before that, Kristin got to face chat with her brother, Nelson a few minutes and then with her aunt April and uncle Paul. This evening she was watching some TV before they played a game of hang man. She would write a letter on her erase board. She starting hurting so it was time to get her laid down and some pain medicine. It was alittle better today, now to see what this week bring toward therapy for her and start working with her again.

Continued prayers for Kristin. May God completely heal, may He completely restore, may He continuously breathe abundant life and immeasurable joy into this young lady's life. D@mn legal insurance systems and health 'authorities'. It's seems they never do what's best for the patient. Makes your heart sick. Know that you are doing your best to help out and that in the end it is left in the hands of the creator for things to work out.

Things changed alot yesterday. Work comp decided they wouldn't pay for Kristin to go to Siskin. She had to go to SAFE HAVEN and April was told if she interfered, they would call adult protective services.

April posted last night..
A late update on Kristin. She was transferred back to a place called SAFEHAVEN in Rocksprings, Ga. We both arrived safely and I hope I got her settled in okay. She done really well during the ambulance ride and was able to go without the rubber helmet for the first time being up. I got to look a little bit around the place but, you better I will be checking out every hole and corner of this place. I have been told that she is now a resident of the state of Ga. I have been set up that I have a room for 7 days to get her settled before I'm going to have to leave my daughter and go home in Ky. without her that she is left alone. I can't afford be are with her any longer. My heart is destroyed that I have let my daughter down. This isn't what she would have wanted for her life or where she wanted to be.

Sitting here as a mom, many things go through your mind. It has been a hard and very long journey to this 5 months point. Many prayers, heart breaks, tears, and some steps forward and many steps backwards. I sit here and think about the 5 months ago when she laid in this trauma unit and didnt know if I would have her from moment to moment. It's a blessing and many answered prayers to have her still with us. It's been hard to make the right decisions that would be best for her. Today, I felt like I was blessed with the greatest news of all. Siskin has accepted Kristin and I understand we are probably looking only about 6 weeks. But, I know that she will receive the therapy that she needs to continue to move forward and not backwards. This is just the beginning of another long journey for her. Now it's the beginning of recovery to see just how far and much she can become of herself again. After this, not sure what her next steps will be but, please continue the prayers, faith, hope that it will be great accomplishment to go home to Ky. where she wanted to go before all this. So, for today, I will continue to dance for her of having a great place to go now, instead of a place that her would have just sat and given no therapy to continue getting better. I thank you to all that has been here to pray and support us through this.

So wonderful to hear!!! Prays continually going up!!! I personally appreciate the updates even though I don't reply often, I do pray daily for her and the family to have strength to continue to the long road. It's hard on all, not just the patient.

Well, the news just keeps getting better.... 1) Kristin's surgery went very well. 2) The top neurosurgeon at Erlanger is sending requests to SISKIN, a sub-acute rehab facility in Tennessee. This would be exactly the you're of place we've been searching for. She would get at least 3 hours a day of the therapies she needs. And, DRUMROLL PLEASE......3) She had been assessed by the pulmonologist, and Kristin is going to be evaluated for 24 hours and will most likely be getting her trach removed!!!!!

That opens so many more doors for her as far as options in care facilities. We love the option of SISKIN. It's only a 4.5 hour drive from home.

KRISTIN IS OUT OF SURGERY!!! Dr. Said they was finishing placing skin back together and go to recovery that we see her about 2 hours. Surgery went really well and now hope/pray no infections inside head. The biggest scare of all, since she has had been through so much and so many infections.

Kristin is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. She had some special visitors today. The first EMTs that arrived on the scene. It was such a thrill to speak with them and thank them personally. They believe that it was fate that day. They were already in the ambulance and had pulled out of the station, not going to a call, when they received the call. They were in the scene within 3 minutes. Also, the helicopter was already in flight, with no patient. We would love to meet the Tennessee State Trooper who was first on the scene as well if we can track him down. We believe his last name is Anderson. If you know him, please put him in contact with April Lynn Humes, Kristin's mother. Remember, the accident happened Nov 14, near the Tennessee/Alabama state line.

We'll keep you posted in surgery progress tomorrow.

Kristin's morning has started. Dr. arrived and check on her and SURGERY is scheduled for tomorrow, I don't have the time yet. Said that all the blood work and CT SCANS looked really good. She is looking to be here ONLY couple of days. And Dr. ask where she going to go from here. A place still hasn't been found, so What now?

Things are still so up in the air with Kristin. We really need your prayers. Kristin is scheduled to go to Tennessee on Monday. However, they don't want to take her until there is a discharge plan in place, which we don't have. We've not been able to locate a place willing to take her. The place in Augusta that they wanted her to go to won't take her. The problem is that she doesn't need ACUTE care, but she is not advanced enough not to need round the clock care. Most places either can't take her because of the trach, or the feeding tube, the safety mitt out a combination thereof out they're not licensed for that your of care. The facility in Nicholasville, had said that they would take her, but she couldn't go for four more months. What a mess. It's like no one wants her....

Well, alot going on today. We found out Kristin cannot come to Louisville East. There just nowhere that we've found Erik take her in Kentucky. It looks like after the surgery in Tennessee, she will probably go to Augusta, GA. They're not even sure if she will be going to Tennessee on Monday now because they dont have a bed reserved for her. And they're having discussions on how to transport her and her wheelchair. So much confusion and stress.

Please, please, please keep the faith and keep the prayers coming.

Nelson is doing well. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Kristin had a great day. In speech therapy, they offered her a choice of pudding. Of course, she took the chocolate. Here's the great thing.... She pulled the tab off to open it and actually LICKED THE TOP. She hasn't used her tongue like that since the accident! Then, she had a little on her lips and the therapist encouraged her to lick her lips off. She tried, but that turned out to be more moving her lips together. For physical therapy, she was sitting up and balancing herself for a short period of time. Then, she was taken outside with all of her therapists working together as a team. She enjoyed the outdoors, but out wore her out.

Kristins mother posted....Called and checked on Kristin this morning and nurse said that she spoke couple words again in the shower. But, wouldnt speak for her after it. Nurse and I have decided to put her in one ourselves, maybe she will talk for us. After that call, I found out that Nelson (kristins brother) didn't show up to first day on job. I then got a phone call from Nelson (son) from hospital in Richmond, Ky. Nelson was in a wreck and hit windshield that he was unconscious for bit, that they was doing a CT SCAN. I think, I can't handle any more. I worry so much about my son, this is his 4th wreck. I don't want to bury a child. I almost lost Kristin little over 4 months ago. My car didn't get in the shop, for it to be finished fixed, for me to leave for Atlanta, Ga. since I went to hospital and then his car ( it's totaled).Please, asking for prayers tonight for my daughter, my son, and for me.

Yesterday, I was told that testing came back on Kristin where she had to be suctioned in trache, she has MRSA. She is in isolation. I will be headed back on Tuesday morning to Atlanta.

Talked to nurse several times today to check on Kristin. She had a very good day. Had call from case mgr. and we will be going to Tennessee on April 4th. for her to have surgery to replace the bone flap (skull). I can't even begin to think what she will be put through again. At this time they are looking to do it on 5th or 6th. Please continue prayers. This surgery will be opening up her head again and she will be expose to possible infections and prayers to guide the neurosurgeon hands. She will be put back on ventilator.

Kristin's mother posted from Kentucky....Got a call this morning about 6:30 am that there was an incident with Kristin. Of course my feet hit the floor and was tripping out. While bathing her and dressing her the feeding tube got caught and was pulled out of her stomach. They were able to keep it open and place a tube in and x-rayed her to see it was in place in her stomach. Was informed that she wasn't under any distress and was okay. What about pain from ripping a surgery procedure out? Really? Check on her many time again today and she is doing okay. And no problems with new tube. I finally received my new car part in and now to get it fixed. But, wait! A screw in my tire. I give up. Anyway time to say goodnight

Praying that the ministering angels go before her and prepare the way so all the details will be easy to work out for everyone concerned with her. Also that her brain continues healing so that all Kristin's faculties resume their normal functions with perfection. Thank you for the updates. We keep her before the Throne of Grace where she receives mercy for her every need.

Update on Kristin. Yesterday she visited with her Aunt and Uncle. She got to go spend about 15 minutes outside in the warm weather. Oh course, I called many many times to the nurses to check on her. And face chat with her while her aunt was there. Called this morning already to check on her and she is being lazy this morning but doing great. Now, to see about things in Kentucky tomorrow and maybe get some answers. Nurse told her this morning that it is Clark's 50th birthday and she wrote HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Continue prayers that we can get her back to Ky. In a place to care for all her needs.

Kristin is doing ok today. Her wheelchair didn't come today :( Possibly next week.... April arrived in Kentucky safe and sound. Hopefully, she can get matters taken care of before returning to Georgia. We're still praying Kristin can get moved into Louisville East.

Just a brief update tonight. Kristin gets her new wheelchair tomorrow morning. After that, April is coming home for a couple of days to handle some business. During her absence from Kristin, she will be calling in and will be in constant contact with all of Kristin's medical team. Kristin's aunt Teresa will be coming to stay with her while April is away. We pray for safe travels. We know this is very hard on April leaving Kristin since she hasn't left her side since the accident happened in November.

On tues, the doctor that removed the brain flap will be having a teleconference with the doctors at the Shepherd Center. We'll know more then as to the course of treatment, if she's going to Tennessee for surgery or going somewhere else. Still praying for an answer in KY.

Alot going on in Kristin's world. Her tentative discharge date is the 15th. We're asking that you join us in praying the she be able to be transferred to Louisville East Post, LLC. It's so important that we get her back home closer to family rather than transferring her to Augusta, GA.

Running late this evening. Kristin is doing fine today. Guess, it was an allergy thing. She had company(Lyndsey) this morning of a co-worker/friend come see her. She received a very pretty crochet throw that she made her. She had a good day and evening. She received a few more cards today and I counted them. Her last roommate came by this evening to visit and bought her a gift(a soft turtle) so, she has another one. And, I had a special surprise this evening. One of her co-worker that came other day called me and we she would like to do still and to buy me dinner and deliver it. Thank you, Terri.

Kristin, HAPPY 26TH BIRTHDAY!!! Daughter, 26 yrs ago we were at the hospital waiting for you to show your beautiful face. You was everything I dreamed you would be. Now as yrs. has pass and I have watched you grow into the most beautiful daughter that I love with all my heart. You had dreams and went after everything you ever wanted. You have reached goals. You have made so many friends and every were you went you left impression on people. I can't be no prouder than I am of my beautiful daughter. And the birthday celebrations continue. Kristin has visitors from Steritech today. That's the company she works for. They brought the beautiful flowers. There are 2 stacks of cards in the 2nd picture. The stack on the left, Denise and April brought with them from KY. The stack on the right was from Steritech. The balloons were from Denise and April. She received a beautiful crocheted prayer blanket, I believe was from Mike and Leslie Stocker. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on that) and April Lynn said to tell Bobbie Dale she received and loved her card. All that being said, Kristin is worn out tonight and is already asleep.

They came to fit her for a custom wheelchair. It will be Kentucky Blue!

What a great day Kristin is having. Look at the love she has received already for her birthday! She had a great day of therapy. In meeting with the doctors today, she will continue to have the mitt on her hand for safety reasons. The trach will not be coming out any time soon, neither will the feeding tube. It is still very up in the air as to what her treatment plan is at this time. Still searching for answers.
Kristin"s aunt April and friend, Denise Land arrived from KY. She expecting other visitors from her work place.

We're getting into the last 2 weeks, supposedly, of her targeted discharge date of March 15. There will be a team meeting tomorrow with her doctors. Still not sure what's going on, where she'll go from here. One day at a time...

Thank you for the update, I've been going to the other site for updates as well. I come into agreement with all these believing for complete healing and restoration for Kristin. I see her speaking and testifying to the greatness of God in her healthy, body. And not taking a long time either. Thank you Father for her health and wholeness in every part of her body. Kristin's birthday is March 3rd!  She'll be 26.
