To speak to the past and the intel we have received, I am of the opinion that WSOMN Intel Team was vetting one another’s information; that they were doing their due diligence before bringing it to us. My assumption may have been mis-guided but that is what I surmised from what was being told to us and rather recently, yesterday to be exact.
So I will go on with writing as if this were the truth.
I worked for 31 years with the same ministry and we lived by what I call the rule of “engagement consensus”. I sat on the Executive Team overseeing 130+ nations for many years and we obeyed the advice given by God.
Good counsel is above all price.
Having “consensus” was paramount to signing our name to any decision as was the “engagement” of all. The discussions at times were heated but at the end the discourse of each was considered, weighed, challenged, heard until finally we could agree on a prescribed way forward. Then the power of agreement came into play (don’t downplay the power behind agreement) and the vision/plan/rule was cast and finally, acted upon.
This was our plumpline…
Proverbs 15:22
Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 11:14
Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
Now that we have stepped back so to speak, a decision has been made, not in a vacuum, that there be no talk about dates or rates. We must abide. Was safety the issue, was the greater good the issue, was maturity the issue, was integrity the issue? We might never know the answer to those questions. But what we do know is this one thing, there is a team backing this decision. They are in agreement. I am alright with that.
A final thought - I believe the WSOMN Intel Team, as mature as I believe them to be, will continue giving us what they have vetted among themselves and with the “host” team, with only two restrictions – no date, no rate. There lies our hope - good counsel is above all price.
